ArtsEd Students Awarded Prestigious Laurence Olivier Bursaries

Second year acting students, Lily Nichol and Rayxia Ojo (front row left and centre) have been awarded the top prize in the Society of London Theatre’s bursary scheme. Founded in 1987, the Laurence Olivier Bursaries support gifted acting students as they embark on their final year of training.

Each year 22 of the UK’s leading drama schools nominate outstanding students, who are interviewed and audition before a panel of industry professionals. Bursaries are allocated based on talent and financial need with previous winners including respected actors Ewan McGregor, Michael Sheen, Paterson Joseph and Bryony Hannah.

It is fantastic for two students, particularly from the same school, to be awarded bursaries. We are very proud of our students’ achievement and extremely grateful to the Society of London Theatre for their support.

The future of this country’s theatre tradition depends on centres of excellence, such as the Arts Educational Schools London. Working with young performers is a particular passion of mine and I am delighted and honoured to be their President.
