Post-Diploma BA in Performance Studies - 1 Year Top-Up Course
This one-year evening course at ArtsEd London will enable you to top up your diploma to a BA (Hons) degree and enhance your career prospects at the same time.
Validated by City, University of London the course is designed for those with a Diploma in Acting or Musical Theatre and a minimum of three years post-diploma professional performance experience.

Whether you gained your diploma within the last five years or decades ago, a degree qualification can open up a range of new employment and training opportunities. Training as a teacher on a PGCE course either for primary education or in a specialist subject for secondary education is a popular next step for PDBA graduates. Or you might want to expand your knowledge and experience with further study of musical theatre or acting and beyond. Develop knowledge of your craft through in-depth academic study. Taught modules include Comedy in Performance, Queer Theory, Subtext, Evolution of the Musical, Contemporary Performance Practitioners and Screen Performance. A study skills module focuses on writing essays, referencing and research skills. Taught modules are followed by a period of self-directed study during which students research and write a dissertation.
You may feel that it’s been a long time since you were in education but extensive support is given to develop writing and academic skills with 1-2-1 tuition available when necessary.
Study alongside existing commitments
This top-up degree course runs one evening a week for three terms making it ideal for people with young families or those wishing to extend their training around work commitments.
Is it worth the cost?
At only £3,500 our fees are highly competitive compared to similar courses out there. Student loans are available for the full tuition fee as well as Equity Bursaries. The part-time and flexible nature of the course enables participants to work full-time.
