Summary of the role

The Voice Tutor will ensure the efficient, safe, and effective provision of high quality, Voice & Speech coaching and will ensure that the curriculum and course structure matches the requirements of the Degree, the National Qualification, and the professional accrediting bodies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To teach Voice & Speech on BA Acting course and provide teaching and training in
  • Organic voice
  • Breathwork
  • Voice and Language
  • Vocal Variations, ‘accent’
  • To provide show support for all courses at various times of year.
  • To monitor and assess the vocal health of students
  • To prepare for each teaching session by selecting and preparing the content, schemes of work and exercises/materials used in planning their approach to the session to meet the learning objectives
  • To manage, appraise and record the progress of students in Speech & Voice.
  • To provide regular feedback – verbal and written.
  • With the Head of Voice, to formulate and review plans for the delivery of the Speech & Voice, and accent curriculum in advance of the academic year.
  • To provide individual academic advice/support to students, including advice on appropriate reading and current developments.
  • To act as a Personal Tutor/Head of Year to students and, where appropriate, triage non-academic aspects of the student experience.
  • To provide formative feedback to students in class where required, to set assessment tasks, mark formally assessed work and act as a principal marker for any assessment tasks set.
  • To undertake organisational and administrative tasks directly related to your own teaching.
  • To maintain and develop links within the profession including with individual artists and companies.
  • To support the department, and whole school in the maintenance of discipline amongst the student body
