‘A Beautiful Game’ Workshop with Woodland School

Last Spring we welcomed Woodland school based in Essex into our building. 30 students took part in a pre-show workshop and watched the BA Musical Theatre’s production of a Beautiful Game. The pre-show workshop was facilitated by Joe Gilmour the assistant director of A Beautiful Game. The young people explored themes of belonging, protest and  activism in performance, through ensemble and movement work creating their own piece of physical theatre to music used in the musical. We looked at the different stages in designing a show, showcasing the mood boards, model boxes and sketches of the set and costume designers. Students and teachers thoroughly enjoyed their time here, and we look forward to welcoming Woodland School students back.

Artistry Youth Dance Partnership
Artistry Youth Dance are a contemporary dance company who showcase and celebrate young performers aged 12-19 of African and Caribbean descent. In October 2022 we hosted the AYD100’s Outreach program, which included jazz, hip-hop, contemporary and Bollywood dance workshops, industry panel discussions and workshops from Rambert, Trinity Laban, London Studio Centre, Bird, The Place London, MPAA and The Dang. We are proud to award talented 5 Artistry Youth Dance students at ArtsEd EXTRA scholarships

Black British Theatre Awards
In 2020/21 we supported the Black British Theatre Awards Outreach Program. We offered a variety of workshops for the young people who participated in BBTA’s mentorship scheme. We hope to invite more talented young people into our building next summer, for a full day of workshops from ArtsEd staff and industry professionals.
