Vocational Curriculum

To ensure that Sixth Formers' vocational training is as broad as possible, we offer several innovative training and performance opportunities on top of the core courses of study.

Training Opportunities

Sixth Formers have the opportunity to study several mini-courses, each developed to extend their performance range. Classes in the past have included: Acting for Film and Television, Voice, Sight Reading and Scribbling for Script.

The Dance Stream is an excellent option for students with highly developed dance skills who are likely to pursue dance as a career. The course includes classes in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and ISTD Modern. Acceptance onto the course is via audition.

Sixth Formers are invited to audition for the Senior Choir which meets once a week.

Extra classes in Jazz and Contemporary Dance are offered to those who wish to pursue a career where dance is an element.

Many students also select voice or instrumental lessons, the cost of which is not included in school fees.

Performance Opportunities

ArtsEd aims to provide excellent performance opportunities that foster professionalism as well as enjoyment. The Sixth Form is a time for focused study and skills development, so that most performances during this time revolve around practical assessments and practical examinations. However, our students are involved in a number of additional internal and external performances each year including:

  • Bedford Park Festival
  • Choreographic Platform
  • Independent Schools Association Drama Festival
  • Janet Cram Awards
  • National Student Drama Festival
  • National Theatre’s Connections Programme
  • Prize Giving
  • Rich Dance Festival
  • The Dance Show
  • The Music Concert
  • ‘Unplugged’ Music Concert

ArtsEd Youth Dance Company
