ArtsEd Community Musical Theatre & Drama Group - Christmas Show

We want to throw open our doors and share our love of musical theatre and acting with Chiswick and the surrounding area.

This term we will be working towards a Christmas show that will be performed for friends, family and the great British public! The show will have a Christmas theme or some form of pantomime.

Who is the course aimed at?

This fun and social group is for anyone with an interest in the performing arts, whether you have performance experience or are a total newcomer to the stage.

Our Director

We are thrilled to have Alex Packer, such an exciting director working with us on this project.

Alex is a director, actor and theatre maker. He is the assistant director on The Woman in Black at the Fortune Theatre, London. In 2013 he set up Mini Mall, a theatre company specialising in new writing & actor-musician work. As an actor, Alex's performance credits include The Woman in Black (UK Tour / West End), Mansfield Park (UK Tour) & Arabian Nights (Watermill Theatre). Alex has been running drama workshops for over 10 years in colleges, institutions & drama schools around the UK.

Community Show Choir

ArtsEd Extra Community Show Choir is back this autumn! We look forward to welcome back existing members of the choir and meeting many new singers.

This term we will be working through musicals and songs from a historical perspective. Starting back in the 1940s and working our way through to the modern day.

Who can join the choir?

Our choir is for anyone who loves to sing, regardless of ability or experience. If you’re always singing show tunes in the car, or belting out a ballad in the shower then come and join us for a fun and uplifting session of joyous singing.

Ages 20 - 125 all welcome.

What are the benefits of singing in a choir?

It has been proven that singing is great for your wellbeing!

Professor Graham Welch, Chair of Music Education at the Institute of Education, University of London: "Singing has physical benefits because it is an aerobic activity that increases oxygenation in the blood stream and exercises major muscle groups in the upper body, even when sitting. Singing has psychological benefits because of its normally positive effect in reducing stress levels and increased sense of community, belonging and shared endeavour."

Matt Mellor our Choir Master has built a reputation as an extremely creative, passionate and driven Musical Director.

"Working with community choirs, you can really feel the power that music has. Being in a choir and creating music together gives people a space to relax, unwind, socialise and enjoy being in the moment of music. Members of choirs grow as individuals as well as musicians and singers. With the Show Choir at ArtsEd, I aim to provide a fun and safe space to express oneself musically. Musical Theatre should be accessible to all, and the greatest of composers not only deserve to be sang by all but also to be heard by all, not just on the professional stage."
