We audition everyone who applies to ArtsEd. The majority of pupils join the school in either Year 7 or 12, although we also welcome pupils into Years 8, 9 and 10. When possible, we encourage school movers to join us in Year 9, when we start the curriculum for some of our key GCSE courses. We are unable to accept applications for Year 10 once the academic year has started.
Prospective pupils spend a day in the school with the other applicants, allowing them to get a taste of life here at the same time as we get to know them. Our staff are very warm and welcoming, and make the day as enjoyable as possible. Everyone takes part in the following:
References from the applicant’s current school and past school reports are also taken into consideration.
Overseas Applicants
The UK government is reviewing the systems through which overseas students from non-EU countries can study in the UK. We are currently taking advice from the UK Borders Agency as to how to proceed, which may cause a delay in the processing of your application to study at ArtsEd. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
We will provide full audition details, including preparation tips, once a prospective pupil is registered. Candidates will need to prepare either a dance or a drama audition piece. All candidates will need to prepare a short song.
All prepared pieces must fit the guidelines below.
