Directing our latest double bill of plays, Ameera Conrad is an international award winning actress, writer, and director no stranger to directing challenging and political pieces. Her work focuses on decolonising the canon of theatre by highlighting the voices of marginalised groups.
In These Four Walls
In These Four Walls is the devastatingly relevant new piece of theatre from acclaimed writer, director and ArtsEd’s Foundation Acting Course Leader, Steven Kavuma. Created in response to the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis in May 2020, and the subsequent global resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement, the play is a visceral exploration of systemic racism in society, white privilege, and how both affect a group of young people searching for difficult answers to complicated questions.
Blistering dialogue and uncompromising visuals combine to create a performance you simply do not want to miss!
TRIGGER WARNING: This play contains imagery and discussions pertaining to police brutality and racial violence.
Totally Over You
Celebrity obsession, instant fame, teenage love – all are explored (and mined for hilarious yet sadly poignant effect) in Mark Ravenhill’s take on life for young people in the social media age. In response to being cruelly ‘chucked’ by their girlfriends when they realise the boys they are dating can’t progress their ambitions of fame, four boys plot and execute a wicked plan of revenge. A rollercoaster of emotions with quick-fire dialogue, Totally Over You challenges audiences to face that most complex of questions: what is love?
Tickets are bookable by invitation only. Audience numbers are restricted due to social distancing.
